In 'Farewell My Concubine' (1993), Leslie Cheung acted as Cheng Dieyi, who became too dependent on his co-opera performer - Duan Xiaolou (Fengyi Zhang).  Deiyi was trained from young to act in a female role for a Chinese play, and Xiaolou, the lover. Things became complicated when Xiaolou married protective Juxian (Gong Li). No male kisses between the male leads, although Deiyi was later on kissed by a fanatic fan.
