Based on a play, this British production film, in 1984, talked about a school boy, Guy (Rupert Everett) who was comfortable in his interest of other male schoolmate, until he realized that he would in this kind of love interest permanently. That 'awakening' scared him, but no matter how he faced his days after that, he had his best friend, Tommy (Colin Firth) to turn to. Based loosely on a real figure who defected to Russia in 1951. Interesting film, as it showcased a young Rupert and Colin, and it was pleasant to have young male couples demonstrating their affection for one another.
